jewelry are known as semi-precious stones. The most important semi
precious stones are as follow: amethyst, lapis, aquamarine, topaz,
moonstone, peridot, opal, tourmaline, zircon. The variety of colors to
be had in these precious and semi precious stones make it possible to
produce unusual designs of artistic merit and to adapt them to the
personality and costume of the wearer. Precious stones include all
minerals of beautiful appearance, sparkling colours, transparency and
lustre. They also must be nearly indestructibly and can resist wear. The
diamond, the ruby, the sapphire and the emerald are generally accepted
as the true precious stones. The pearl is oftentimes classed with
precious stones. Although strictly speaking while it is not a stone it
holds an esteemed place in jewelry. so, we can say precious and semi
precious stones occupy a special position in jewellery.
